What Is the Closest Airport to Disneyland? Compare All 5 Airports (2026)

What is the closest airport to Disneyland? John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County is the closest. It is about 14 miles from Disneyland, and the drive usually takes 15 to 25 minutes. It is also my favorite airport for Disneyland by a mile. Long Beach (LGB), LAX, Ontario (ONT), and Burbank (BUR) are all farther away, but they can have cheaper flights.

I grew up going to Disneyland at least twice a year, and I have flown in and out of the area more times than I can count. So I have strong opinions on this one. The closest airport is not always the best one for everyone, because flight prices and drive times change the answer. But for me, there is a clear winner. Distances and drive times below are estimates from travel guides in October 2026, and Southern California traffic can change them a lot, so always check a live map before you book.

John Wayne Airport (SNA): My Favorite Airport for Disneyland

I love John Wayne Airport so much. When I had my pass, I flew from Las Vegas to SNA for years, and I paid about $40 round trip. It was such a dream! Those cheap days are somewhat over, but I still have so much experience going to and from SNA, and it is the overall winner for a Disneyland airport in my book.

Here is why I love it:

  • It is so close. Even now, you can fly in super early in the morning, grab an Uber or Lyft, and go straight to the parks. It is about 15 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. It is amazing!
  • It is tiny and chill. The airport is small and relaxed, and there is almost never a long security line.
  • You save a lot of time. Between the short security line and the short drive, you get to the park much faster than you would from a big airport.

The tradeoff is that flights into SNA can cost more than flights into LAX. A rideshare from SNA is often around $20 to $30, though prices change with demand, so check the app.

How Far Is LAX From Disneyland?

LAX is about 35 miles from Disneyland. With no traffic it can take 35 minutes, but between 3 and 7 PM it can take well over an hour. Personally, I would not fly into LAX unless I had to, because that drive is not fun before a full park day. Starting a long day at Disneyland after a stressful drive just is not worth it to me.

That said, if you are just trying to get to Anaheim and you are in no rush, LAX is totally fine. It usually has the most flight options and the lowest fares, and a rideshare is often around $50 to $80, so add that to the price of your flight before you decide.

Long Beach Airport (LGB)

Long Beach is about 24 miles away, with a drive of around 25 to 40 minutes. Some sites list it as closer, so double check on a map. It is a smaller airport, so it is usually less stressful than LAX, and fares are often in between SNA and LAX. Like LAX, it is fine if you are in no rush.

Ontario (ONT) and Burbank (BUR)

Ontario is about 36 miles away, and the drive is often 30 to 45 minutes. It has less traffic than LAX and more flights than it used to. Burbank is the farthest at about 45 miles, with drives from 45 to 90 minutes, so I would only pick it if the flight is much cheaper or you are doing other things in Los Angeles first.

Which Airport Should You Fly Into for Disneyland?

  • Want the easiest trip? Pick John Wayne (SNA). This is what I do.
  • Want the cheapest flight? Check LAX first, then add the rideshare or rental car cost.
  • Want to skip LAX traffic? Try Long Beach or Ontario.
  • Landing late at night? A closer airport means less time on the road before you get to your hotel.
  • Heading to the parks right away? Fly into SNA early in the morning and you can be in the park in no time.

My tip: Always compare the total trip cost, not just the flight. A cheap LAX fare can cost the same as a slightly pricier SNA flight once you add a long rideshare, and you lose time on the road. Do you need a car at all? If you stay at a Disneyland Resort hotel, you may not. If you do drive, see my guide to how much parking costs at Disneyland.

Tips for Your Trip After You Land

  • Avoid rush hour. Traffic is worst on weekday afternoons, so try to book flights that land before 3 PM or after 7 PM.
  • Pack light. Check what you can carry into the parks in my Disneyland bag policy guide.
  • Pick your dates carefully. Holiday weekends mean more traffic from the airport. Here is my Disneyland crowd calendar.
  • Bring layers. Even sunny Southern California gets chilly at night. Here is what to wear to Disneyland.
