Quick Answer: If you’re wondering what is the least liked Disney park, Animal Kingdom is probably the park most often treated as the easiest Walt Disney World park to skip, largely because it has fewer rides than the other three parks. Hollywood Studios also gets plenty of “least favorite” votes, though, so there really is no universal answer. The answer changes a LOT depending on who is going and what they actually enjoy.

What Is the Least Liked Disney Park?
Animal Kingdom tends to come up the most when people talk about which Walt Disney World park they would skip. However, I actually love Animal Kingdom and I explain why in my blog post What to Do in Animal Kingdom.
I personally think my answer would be Hollywood Studios for multiple reasons but mainly because:
- Their food is overrated and not very good. Bring snacks and lunch if visiting this park.
- Hollywood Tower of Terror is very underwhelming to me because I grew up with the one in Disneyland, CA. Which was a lot better in my opinion.
- There just isn’t that much to do and see.
A recent fan poll asking people to choose their favorite Walt Disney World park put Animal Kingdom in fourth place, behind EPCOT, Magic Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom received 14% of the favorite-park votes in that poll.
But I think calling it the “least liked Disney park” needs a giant asterisk next to it because Disney parks are incredibly subjective!
Someone who wants roller coasters and thrill rides is going to rank the parks very differently than someone who wants animals, good food, nature, characters, or a slower day.
And personally, Animal Kingdom is one of my favorite Disney parks.
So while I understand why it often gets ranked last, I definitely do not agree that it is automatically the park everyone should skip.
Walt Disney World has four theme parks:
- Magic Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Hollywood Studios
- Animal Kingdom

Why Does Animal Kingdom Often Rank Last?
The biggest reason is pretty simple. There are only two main “adventurous” rides.
The two biggest “headliners” are:
- Avatar Flight of Passage
- Expedition Everest
Those are the rides most people plan around.
Animal Kingdom has fewer traditional rides than some of the other Walt Disney World parks. But this makes it perfect for trips with younger kids, especially because of all of the wild animals you get to see around the park!
If someone measures the value of a park by how many rides they can knock out in one day, Animal Kingdom can feel smaller.
That is also why people often describe it as a “half-day park.”
You can arrive early, ride Kilimanjaro Safaris, Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest, walk through Pandora, and technically leave by afternoon if that is all you care about.
Recent Disney fan discussions show this exact split. Some people say Animal Kingdom is the park they would skip because it has fewer rides or feels too much like a zoo, while other people say the animals, atmosphere, and theming are exactly why they love it.
That is the problem with calling any Disney park the “worst.”
What one person thinks is boring might be exactly what another person came for.

The Least Liked Disney Park Depends on Who You Are
This is the part I think gets missed when people rank Disney World parks from best to worst.
Your least favorite park is going to depend heavily on your group.
If You Are Going With Young Kids
If I were planning a trip with really young kids, I would personally consider EPCOT less essential than Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom.
I love EPCOT. It is actually one of my favorite Disney parks. But only when I go with adults because we like to focus on food and drink opportunities.
But little kids may care a lot more about classic rides, characters, animals, and visually exciting attractions than spending hours walking around World Showcase.
That does not mean EPCOT is bad for kids.
It just means I would think carefully about what my specific child is actually going to enjoy.
Magic Kingdom is usually the easiest choice for younger kids because there are so many classic attractions and recognizable Disney experiences.
Animal Kingdom can also be amazing for kids who love animals. Highly recommend if sightseeing is something your kid loves.
So for a family with toddlers, I would not automatically say Animal Kingdom is the least important park.
If You Love Animals, Nature, and Chill Vibes
Animal Kingdom might actually be your BEST park. The vibes in this park are immaculate.
This is where I think the park gets completely misunderstood.
If you like animals, nature, walking trails, beautiful scenery, good food, drinks, and a Disney day that does not feel like one giant race from attraction to attraction, Animal Kingdom is an amazing choice.
That is exactly why I love it.
You can ride Kilimanjaro Safaris, walk through Gorilla Falls, spend time in Pandora, grab a cocktail at Nomad Lounge, watch Festival of the Lion King, and actually slow down. Kids die to see the Festival of the Lion King show!
I do not feel like I have to “conquer” Animal Kingdom.
I can just enjoy being there.
If that sounds like your kind of Disney day, Animal Kingdom should absolutely not be the park you skip.

If You Love Thrill Rides
Hollywood Studios may rank much higher for you.
This park is a stronger fit for people who care about major rides and immersive lands.
If your group gets excited about thrill rides, Star Wars, Tower of Terror, Toy Story Land, and bigger attractions, Hollywood Studios can easily become one of your favorite parks.
Interestingly, Hollywood Studios also shows up pretty often in conversations about people’s least favorite park.
Some Disney fans complain about the layout, limited number of attractions, or the fact that it can feel like a collection of separate themed areas rather than one cohesive park.
That alone proves how subjective this question really is.
If You Want Classic Disney Magic
Magic Kingdom is probably the hardest park to cut.
For a first Disney World trip, Magic Kingdom is the park that feels the most like what people picture when they think of Disney.
Cinderella Castle.
Classic rides.
Characters.
Fireworks.
Main Street U.S.A.
If someone told me they were only visiting one Disney World park for the first time, I would almost never recommend skipping Magic Kingdom.
That does not mean everyone loves it most.
Some adults actually rank Magic Kingdom lower because it can feel more crowded, more kid-focused, and more hectic than the other parks. Recent fan discussions include people naming Magic Kingdom as their least favorite for exactly those reasons.
Again, it depends on the person.
Crowd levels can completely change how a park feels, so I always check the best time to visit Disney World before deciding which parks deserve the most time on my trip.
If You Love Food and Drinks
EPCOT could easily become your favorite.
This is one of the biggest reasons I personally love EPCOT. It feels like you’re genuinely traveling across different countries. It is so much fun.
You can spend hours walking around World Showcase, trying food, grabbing drinks, exploring the different pavilions, and enjoying the atmosphere.
For adults, couples, and groups of friends, EPCOT can feel completely different from a typical theme park day.
But someone who only wants rides may not feel the same way.
That is why I would never tell someone EPCOT is automatically better than Animal Kingdom.
They offer completely different experiences.

Is Animal Kingdom Actually the Worst Disney Park?
No.
At least not to me.
Animal Kingdom is one of those parks that becomes much better when you stop treating it like a ride checklist.
If you walk in expecting Magic Kingdom with animals, you may be disappointed.
If you walk in expecting a slower, beautiful, highly themed park where rides are only part of the experience, it makes much more sense.
Personally, I love being able to ride the safari, wander the trails, grab food or a drink, and spend time actually looking around.
Pandora alone is one of the most visually impressive areas in Disney World, especially after dark.
And I think Festival of the Lion King is one of the best shows in the parks.
So no, I do not think Animal Kingdom deserves to be called the worst Disney park.
I think it is probably the most misunderstood.
Which Disney World Park Do People Skip Most?
Animal Kingdom is commonly mentioned when travelers only have time for three parks.
One reason is that people assume they can experience the main attractions more quickly there.
Fan discussions about which park to cut often include Animal Kingdom, especially when groups are prioritizing longer park hours or a larger number of rides.
But even those conversations are divided.
Some people say skip Animal Kingdom.
Others say skip EPCOT.
Others say Hollywood Studios is the easiest park to cut.
That is exactly why I would never choose based only on someone else’s ranking.
Which Disney Park Might Be YOUR Least Favorite?
Here is the easiest way I would think about it.
Young kids: EPCOT may feel less essential depending on what your kids enjoy.
Animal lovers: Animal Kingdom could be one of your favorite parks.
Thrill ride fans: Hollywood Studios will probably rank higher.
First-time Disney visitors: Magic Kingdom is usually the hardest park to skip.
Food and drink lovers: EPCOT could easily be number one.
People who want a relaxed park day: Animal Kingdom is a great choice.
People who want the most rides possible: Animal Kingdom may feel less valuable.
Big Star Wars fans: Hollywood Studios probably needs to stay on your list.
Adults without kids: EPCOT and Animal Kingdom may actually move higher than they would for a family with toddlers.
The “least liked” park is really the park that matches your group the least.
That is the answer I wish more Disney rankings gave people.

If You Can Only Visit Three Disney Parks, Which Should You Skip?
I would choose based on your group instead of automatically cutting Animal Kingdom.
If I were traveling with young kids who cared mostly about classic Disney characters and rides, I might consider skipping EPCOT.
If I were traveling with adults who love food and drinks, there is no chance I would cut EPCOT.
If my group loved animals and nature, I would keep Animal Kingdom.
If nobody cared about Star Wars, Toy Story, or thrill rides, Hollywood Studios might become the easiest one to cut.
And if it were someone’s first Disney World trip, I would almost always keep Magic Kingdom.
This is why I think the phrase “least liked Disney park” can be misleading.
The right question is really:
Which Disney World park is least important for MY trip?
That is a much better way to plan.
My Personal Ranking of the Disney World Parks
This is where I have to admit that I am probably not helping the Animal Kingdom haters.
EPCOT is my favorite.
Animal Kingdom is also very high on my list because I love nature, animals, the atmosphere, and having a Disney day that feels more relaxed.
Magic Kingdom is obviously iconic, especially for the classic Disney feeling.
Hollywood Studios is great for thrill rides, Fantasmic! and some of Disney’s biggest attractions.
But my ranking can change depending on who I am with.
That is really the entire point.
If I were taking young kids, my ranking would be different.
If I were going with a group of adults, it would be different again.
If I were going with someone obsessed with animals, I would make sure Animal Kingdom was a priority.
That is why I think the best Disney park ranking is never completely universal.
How Many Parks Do You Actually Need to Visit?
If you have enough time, I think experiencing all four parks is the best way to figure out which one YOU actually like.
Disney World has four very different theme parks, and each one offers something the others do not.
If this is your first trip and you can make the schedule work, I would rather give yourself enough days to see all four than cut one based on someone else’s opinion.
My guide on how many days you need at Disney World can help you figure out whether a 3, 4, or 5-day park plan makes the most sense for your trip.

Final Verdict: What Is the Least Liked Disney Park?
So, what is the least liked Disney park?
Animal Kingdom is probably the closest thing to the overall answer.
It tends to rank lower in fan polls and often gets mentioned as the park people would skip if they cannot visit all four.
But that does not mean Animal Kingdom is objectively the worst Disney park.
Personally, I think that label is unfair.
If you love animals, nature, atmosphere, great food, and a slower park day, Animal Kingdom might actually be one of your favorites.
If you are traveling with young kids, you may decide EPCOT is less important.
If you love thrill rides, Hollywood Studios could be a must-do.
If this is your first Disney trip, Magic Kingdom may be impossible to skip.
The real answer depends on who is going and what makes a Disney day fun for them.
That is why I would use rankings as a starting point, not as the thing that decides your vacation.
